Rough timeline:
+0: BbS happens. Or mostly. Main divergence points: New Xehanort is de-aged to 10/11 years old, arrives at Radiant Garden and is adopted by Ansem.
+4mths: Ansem catches Braig trying to talk Xehanort into doing the darkness thing. Decides that having the kid near it might be a liability.
+6mths: Darkness experiments begin. Progress overall is slowed without Xehanort's driving them.
+2 years: Experiments abandoned as largely not worth it, although not before creating Heartless, who are sealed away.
+2.2yrs: Kairi first meets Heartless in abandoned labs. Lets them out. They find each other fascinating.
+3 years: Kairi vanishes: goes to Destiny Islands with her dark friends, meets Sora, who seems to understand them, and Riku who's just plain interested in these things from other worlds. Other RG citizens start going missing.
+4 yrs: Dark takeover of castle. Xehanort and other apprentices are 'cursed' to either enchanted sleep or sent into the future. Ansem the Wise is lost to the dark.
+10yrs: KH1 era. Apprentices are awoken/found by Donald and Goofy, and plot starts happening. Tracking down the source of the Heartless, rescuing people who got trapped out of their own worlds such as their Lea and Isa, or picking up folks who just want to see the Heartless taken care of. Sora and Riku are both travelling and watching the progress of everything, while Kairi herself remains on DI, now a stormy and harsh place...
CoM: Xeha and Braig exploring memories in Castle Oblivion.
+11yrs: KH2 era. DiZ and Aqua as enemies: DiZ is out destroying Nobodies, and Aqua, in her role as this time period's Big Bad, is working to break down the barriers between worlds and realms. Likely the point at which Xeha learns his past fully: he meets the Nobody Eraqus, who wants his help… and who seems to recognise him...
KH3D: Interestingly spoilery business happens.
