Of course there are. It's only Braig's habit of almost incessant (and not necessarily important) chatter that's keeping him yammering on, and he doesn't expect Xeha to pay much attention to it. Not when there's something that needs to be taken care of and he doesn't want to distract the kid when they're sitting pretty in midair.

So rather than yammer on, he settles for acting as a sort of helpful backseat driver, keeping an eye on the situation and pointing out things he's noticed that Xeha might not have.
